I’ve been working on the front thrust kick for about a month now. I definitely have a lot more questions than I’m asking, but I’m trying to figure things out on my own a little bit so my questions are more comprehensive.
My focus has been on separating the hips in which the technique generates vs the energy. Or at least, feeling a difference. It’s been a lot of optometrist-style trial and error lately; I still don’t know what feels right, but I absolutely feel a difference when I focus on aligning my shoulders and hips on my strikes.
It’s almost as if the transfer of energy becomes more simultaneous - I feel a momentary delay when my kicks land in my normal fashion. Like, a fraction of a second where the power doesn’t transfer through the kick. That fraction seems to be reduced exponentially when working on adjusting my hips and shoulders. Is this part of my harmonies?
I thought my physical six harmonies were much more... obvious. This was an issue I’ve had with Tai Chi; there’s a lot of subtle movements I do not register. What I thought was the proper alignment of my harmonies in a kick may only actually be 1/2 of the way there. It’s exciting!
